EVERYTHING ABOUT ONE THING

Over the course of the fall semester, each learner at Cottonwood chose a single object to dissect, draw, research, and understand from the moment it arose as an idea in someone’s mind to the point it reached their hands as a fully formed thing.

There were criteria for selecting an object:

  • It had to be made by humans.

  • It could not be perishable.

  • It had to be small enough that you could carry it.

  • You had to be willing to destroy it.

Each artist’s piece is composed of two parts; a way of sharing their knowledge about their unique object and a creative expression using their object as the medium.  We invite you to explore and interact with each project, asking questions of the artists along the way.
